Summary:As a part of a highly collaborative program team, this colleaguemanages the day-to-day academic services operations for asupportive, engaging, and inclusive student experience in theSchool of Business. Serving as an academic advisor and key primarypoint of contact for a population of students, this roleadministers a full suite of academic services and annual processesin support of holistic student success. Participates in thedevelopment of office and program policies, practices, and systems,in a world-class undergraduate business education setting. Thisrole enables a higher education professional to bridge the gapsbetween traditional academic and student services and to enablestudent development and success on a variety of levels.Job DescriptionEssential Functions:Works directly with students as a highly knowledgeable andavailable advising resource, while also supporting theirdevelopment as autonomous and responsible emergingprofessionals.Executes continuing student academic advising processes incoordination with other School of Business colleagues and keyUniversity partners (University Registrar’s Office, Office ofUndergraduate Academic Advising, etc.).Coordinates key aspects of the student academic lifecycle forundergraduate business students, to include major declaration,course registration, transfer credit review/approval, trackingacademic progress, and the certification of degree completion.Serving as the primary program lead for one or more key studentinformation software platforms, maintaining a current workingexpertise of such systems and associated student datamanagement/reporting tools.Effectively leverages technology to innovate and to add valueto the advising process and to the overall student experience.Serves as a primary point of contact for business programstudents regarding their holistic student needs, including workingdirectly with students in personal, social, or academic distress,and escalating or referring issues as appropriate.Collaborates with other program staff and the WFU Center forGlobal Programs and Studies to provide accurate academic advisingand guidance to business majors studying abroad.Collaborates with other School of Business administrators todesign and to build an efficient and effective academic courseschedule for undergraduate business majors, monitoring enrollmentdata/trends to identify course offering needs.Ensures a high-quality day-to-day student experience in thedegree program, communicating proactively about student successes,needs, and concerns – and liaising with centralized student supportand resource units as appropriate.Collaborates with other School of Business staff to supportstudents’ career preparation and employment success.May direct the work of other professional or student staffmembers.Other duties as assigned. Required Education, Knowledge,Skills, Abilities:Bachelor’s degree plus at least three yearsrelated experience in academic advising and registration, orequivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills,Abilities:Master’s degree in student affairs/personnel administration ora closely related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree plus atleast three years of experience, or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience is required.Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, and similarstudent information software platforms, as well as an openness tolearning and to leveraging other systems as institutional needschange.Extensive knowledge of academic policies, cultures, andprocedures.Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and laws regardingstudent records.Commitment to the values of diversity and the ability to buildinclusive and respectful relationships in which differences areappreciated and engaged.Proficiency in use of personal computers and relevant softwareapplications.Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and writtencommunication, and listening capabilities.Skill in organizing resources and establishing/managingpriorities.Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, andcurriculum/graduation requirements.Accountabilities:Directly manages holistic academic advisingfunctions, and those identified to participate in the process.Assists the Associate Dean and other program staff in theformulation and administration of policies for the office.
