Watford ‘won’t yield’ in demands for youngster, work needed for move

first_imgThroughout this summer we’ve brought you various updates on the future of Watford youngster Cucho Hernandez. The 20-year-old spent the past two seasons at Huesca where he scored 20 goals in 70 games and earned plenty of plaudits. He’s set to spend next season on loan once again and there are several suitors for him in La Liga, with Real Betis particularly keen.Earlier this month Estadio Deportivo claimed he was equally keen to head to the Benito Villamarín as, out of all of his offers, that’s the one that ‘most thrills’ him. There’s been no mention of the transfer progressing since then and Estadio Deportivo explain why that’s the case.According to the newspaper, Betis coach Rubi approved the transfer, having worked with Hernandez at Huesca in 2017/18 and Betis were happy to push for a move. Watford, though, are making things complicated. The Hornets have ‘high expectations’ over a transfer and will only contemplate a sale if they are getting a big price to make it happen. They’ll also consider another loan but in that case, they’re refusing to put a purchase option into the deal.It seems neither of those situations suit Betis and until Watford loosen their demands in either regard a transfer seems unlikely.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. Rob Gronkowski gets emotional while announcing partnership with CBD company

first_imgGronkowski said that since his retirement in March, he is “very satisfied with where I am in life now.”Since his retirement, Patriots fans have continued to speculate when, not whether, the former tight end will return to the team. While Gronkowski doesn’t have plans to return in the “forseeable” future, he also didn’t exactly close the door.”Physically, I could play right now,” Gronkowski said, but added he is not quite mentally there yet. MORE: Andrew Luck’s retirement made sense. The Colts’ confusion around his injuries didn’t”I want to be clear to my fans. I needed to recover. I was not in a good place. Football was bringing me down, and I didn’t like it. I was losing that joy in life,” Gronkowski said.”I got done with the game and I could barely walk,” he continued. “I slept five minutes that night. I couldn’t even think. I was in tears in my bed after a Super Bowl victory. It didn’t make that much sense to me. And then, for four weeks, I couldn’t even sleep for more than 20 minutes a night. I was like, ‘Damn, this sucks.’ It didn’t feel good.”Do you see tears? @RobGronkowski gets emotional discussing his decision to retire so he could physically recover. He’s not ruling out a future return to the @nfl, but also not making it seem likely. https://t.co/uYEfOwuTXe pic.twitter.com/nuRGca2a54— WCVB-TV Boston (@WCVB) August 27, 2019Gronkowski’s comments come just days after fellow 29-year-old Andrew Luck shocked the world and retired from the NFL, citing similar struggles with the difficulties of overcoming repeated injuries.CBDMEDIC makes topical products for “safe, natural, and temporary relief,” according to the company’s website. Cannabis of any kind, including CBD, is banned in the NFL despite several forms of CBD becoming federally legalized. Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski became emotional Tuesday morning when detailing his reasons for retiring from the NFL at age 29.Gronkowski, who was speaking at an event in New York City to announce his new partnership with the CBD company, CBDMedic, fought back tears as he decribed the pain of a quad injury he sustained during his final season with the Patriots on their run to winning Super Bowl LIII.last_img read more

Higuain and Dybala stun Spurs to send Juventus through

first_imgBy Martyn HermanLONDON, March 7 (Reuters) – Juventus produced a Champions League smash-and-grab raid as Paulo Dybala’s goal earned them a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley to send the Italians through to the quarter-finals 4-3 on aggregate on Wednesday.Son Heung-min’s first-half effort had put Tottenham in control after they had drawn 2-2 in Turin last month and there was little sign of a Juve response until Gonzalo Higuain and Dybala struck in three second-half minutes.Higuain poked in from close range to equalise in the 64th minute before fellow Argentine Dybala, who missed the first leg with an injury, curled past Hugo Lloris after bursting clear. It was tough on Tottenham, who will rue several missed chances in the opening period and hit the post with a Harry Kane header in the 90th minute, but proof that Massimiliano Allegri’s experienced Juventus, runners-up in two of the last three seasons, remain one of Europe’s toughest nuts to crack.Son was given the nod ahead of Erik Lamela on the left side of Tottenham’s attack and fully justified manager Mauricio Pochettino’s faith as he ran Juve’s experienced but creaking defence ragged before halftime. His stinging shot tested Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon in the third minute and another lightning burst into the box ended with Giorgio Chiellini making a crucial block.Tottenham hounded Juventus as they did in the opening leg and Kane should have scored in the 14th minute when Dele Alli played him in but, after skipping around Buffon, the England striker fired his shot into the side-netting.It was not one-way traffic though and the hosts had an enormous let-off shortly after Kane’s miss when Douglas Costa drove into the area and was tripped by an out-paced Jan Vertonghen and sent sprawling to the turf.Vertonghen looked a picture of innocence as Juve’s furious players surrounded Polish referee Szymon Marciniak who opted against pointing to the spot despite replays confirming the Tottenham defender had taken Costa’s legs and not the ball.CONFUSED BUFFONGrizzled Juve defender Andrea Barzagli was lucky to escape a booking when he stood on Son’s leg after a challenge.Son then drove a left-foot shot wide when he should have scored but his persistence finally saw him break the deadlock in the 39th minute courtesy of a slice of fortune.Kieran Trippier picked out Son with a low cross and despite completely missing the ball with his right foot it cannoned off his standing left leg and dinked over the confused Buffon. Not a classic, but neither Son, nor the Spurs fans cared. It was only the third goal Juve had conceded in 12 games — all against a vibrant Tottenham side — and left them needing to score twice to stay in the competition.Dybala missed the first leg with injury and was largely anonymous at Wembley — his first sight of goal not arriving until just past the hour when he drove wildly over.A minute later, however, his fellow Argentine Higuain sparked the tie back into life when he stuck out a leg to touch home Sami Khedira’s knockdown. Two minutes later Tottenham’s defence was caught square and Dybala was played through on goal and calmly advanced before curling past Lloris to send the 4,000 travelling fans wild.A stunned Tottenham responded with Kane, who hit the post with a header that bounced up off the turf, Christian Eriksen and Son all going close for the hosts but Juve’s vast European experience saw them home.last_img read more
