Bridgeton Holdings Grows East Hampton Stake?

first_imgBridgeton Holdings, a Manhattan-based hotel ownership and management firm recently increased its stake, yet again, in the world of East Hampton Town resorts.Already full owners with an ongoing major renovation of the Atlantic Terrace in Montauk, a minority owner with a 50 percent stake in the liquor license at Hero Beach in Montauk, and a full stake in the operation of what is now known as Journey East Hampton on Pantigo Road in East Hampton, Bridgeton Holdings appears to have more than doubled down on the East Hampton resort. According to Suffolk County records, the property at 490-492 Pantigo Road, into which Bridgeton Holdings had already pumped $600,000 for renovation as of several months ago, with more work ongoing, has been sold by its longtime owner, an LLC called Hamptons Land Corp. The buyer is another LLC, East Hampton Hotel. The price? Five million dollars plus mortgage fees.Bridgeton Holdings has followed a business model in East Hampton Town of taking over motels which are run down, pouring a lot of money into renovations, and converting them into high-end resorts. They have also generated controversy at both Hero Beach and Journey East Hampton by obtaining liquor licenses and building bars on the property without obtaining permits from the town.In that regard, Britton Bistrian, who represents the owners of Hero Beach, who are currently before the East Hampton Town Planning Board with an application to legalize the 16-seat restaurant with a bar built without permits, presented the board December 6 with a new narrative for the bar’s use on the property. The main change from the original narrative, which she presented to the board in June 2017, is that the owners of Hero Beach have agreed to be limited to serving 225 customers on the property at a time. The liquor license Bridgeton Holdings obtained from the State Liquor Authority, over the objections of the town, allows the owners to serve up to 499 people at any one time on the property. In granting the liquor license, the SLA required that the town sign off on the bar/restaurant. That has not happened, as of yet, though the license is active, and in place at Hero Beach.Similarly, Journey East Hampton is before the planning board, attempting to legalize its already-built bar.Atlantic Terrace, which is undergoing major renovations, has not yet officially applied for a liquor license, though neighbors have expressed concern that that is exactly the plan for the resort that Bridgeton Holdings has in [email protected] Sharelast_img read more

Sykes, Roach Lead UWF to Victory at Watson Ford Invitational

first_imgSykes, Roach Lead UWF to Victory at Watson Ford Invitational  CLINTON, Miss. – The duo of junior Martinique Sykes (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) and freshman Chris Roach (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Nease HS) led the West Florida men’s cross country team to victory at the Watson Ford Invitational hosted by Mississippi College on Friday evening.  The meet was scored for Division I schools and non-Division I schools separately, but the Argonauts out-paced opponents in both categories to claim the win.Six Argonauts placed in the top 10 in the non-Division I results and overall in the 8k run.  Mississippi College placed first among Division I schools, and Hendrix was the second place finisher for the non-Division I field.“I’m very pleased with how we ran today in our final tune-up for the postseason,” said head coach John Bergen.  “It’s a challenging course, and we were hoping we would be pushed by some of the other top teams.  We’re very pleased with how we’re running heading into postseason.”For Sykes, the race marked his fourth top five finish of the season and his first career win as he crossed the finish line at 26:35.“Martinique ran a very strong and smart race,” explained Bergen.  “He let a couple other runners set the pace early, and he took over between the second and third mile marks.  Some of his own teammates pushed him a bit, but he held on and ran a very strong race for the win.  It was an impressive win for Martnique.”Roach was close behind Sykes, crossing the line in second place at 26:39 for a personal best.  The rest of UWF’s pack at the front included junior Dominique Sykes (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) in fourth at 26:54, senior Eddie Pagan (Stuart, Fla./South Fork HS) in sixth at 27:02, freshman Cody Haden (Navarre, Fla./Navarre HS) in eighth at 27:28 and senior Jared Black (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon HS) in ninth at 27:32.“Our veteran group of Eddie, Jared, Dominique and Martinique has been a great group for three years,” said Bergen.  “They’ve trained hard and always raced well, and we know we’re getting good results out of them.  Our freshman group has stayed right with our leaders, as they did today.”Freshman Roman Kowalski (Pensacola, Fla./Catholic HS) finished in 16th place at 28:16, and he was followed by sophomore Titus Cheruiyot (Eldoret, Kenya/Tenwek HS) in 19th place at 28:29.  Freshman Brandon Skeie (West Creek, N.J./Southern Regional HS) was a late scratch prior to the race due to a foot injury. The Argonauts will head to Hoover, Ala. on Oct. 22 for the Gulf South Conference Championships at Veterans Park.
