Rugby League BY KILA NAO Vadavada United rugby league club has been bailed out of its dilemma after a local Hire Car company jumped on board to help them with financial support on Monday. The A grade premiership winning team in the Moresby South Rugby League competition have been boosted with K4,350 from Island Mobil Hire Cars located at Vadavada in the National Capital District. The company’s public relations officer Joe Kepa said they were happy to be associated with youths who are involved in sports. “It is part of our community obligation to help where necessary and this teams (men and women) have been a role model since last year. “We have raised our hands up again this year to support them with small funding which will go towards paying their fees,” said Kepa. United president Steven Mark thanked the management of the firm for their continued support. “The funding received will go towards paying our affiliation and player registration fees for the three grades (A, Under 20 and women’s). “Most of the players live at Vadavada and around China Town who are committed to playing sports especially rugby league. “Our men’s A grade side won the MSRL premiership trophy last season and we are confident at defending the title this time around. “Three of our players Unnie Patrick, Jason Maima and Josh Eriko are currently playing with the Gulf Isou and we are hoping that more players will join the ranks soon.
