Fourth-year goalkeeper Vanna Staggolis stopped Maddy Skinner on the final shot of penalty kicks to lead the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s soccer team to a 2-1 (3-2 PK) victory over the No. 7 Western Mustangs in OUA semifinal action on Friday night (Nov. 1) in Ottawa.GOING TO THE ‘SHIP: With the win, the Blues advance to tomorrow’s OUA final, where they will face the York Lions, who upset the host and defending national champion Ottawa Gee-Gees in the other semifinal of the day.U of T also earns their first-ever berth into a national tournament.
