AUBURN — A record-setting offensive outing against the vaunted Alabama defense didn’t do much to lessen the blow in the polls of Auburn’s fourth loss.Auburn (8-4. 4-4 SEC) fell to five spots in both major polls, dropping No. 20 in the Associated Press to No. 21 in the Amway Coaches poll after its 55-44 loss to top-ranked Alabama.Auburn received 358 points in the AP poll, down from 597 last week.Alabama took over the top spot in the AP poll with 1,426 points and 25 first place votes.Florida State dropped to No. 2 with 1,423 points with 29 first place votes while No. 3 Oregon (1,391) received the five remaiing first place votes.TCU, Baylor, Ohio State, Michigan State, Arizona, Kansas State and Mississippi State round out the AP top 10.Auburn is 3-3 against ranked teams.Auburn received 361 points in the coaches poll, down from 565 a week ago, and is one of just three four-loss teams in the coaches poll.Alabama (11-1, 7-1) remained No. 1 with 1,507 points and 28 first place votes, up from 1,474 points and 25 first place votes.No. 2 Florida State (1,489 points) lost two first place votes (28), No. 3 Oregon (1,458 points) kept its six first place votes.TCU (1,339), Baylor (1,300), Ohio State (1,269), Michigan State (1.136), Arizona (1,050), Kansas State (1,037) and Mississippi State (979) round out the top 10 of the coaches poll.
