Significant increase in broadcast coverage expected for UCI Road World Championships

first_imgThe International Cycling Union (UCI) and its marketing partner Infront Sports & Media have issued a release stating that together the organisations ‘will achieve an unprecedented level of television broadcast coverage for the upcoming UCI Road World Championships – to be held in Florence, Italy, between 22 and 29 September 2013.’The number of license holders as well as guaranteed broadcast visibility is higher than for any previous event held in the past. Overall, the event is to be featured across Europe, North and South America, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia. The two partners have licensed international media rights for the event to around 30 television networks, increasing exposure through both free and pay TV coverage. In addition, the Championships will be featured in new territories for the first time including Al Jazeera (Middle East), Charlton (Israel) and Direct TV (South America). In established markets, the successful rights distribution has increased the opportunity for fans and viewers to access the coverage from a more extensive range of channel options. For example In France, the event will be with both BeIN Sport and France TV. Across Scandinavia and the Baltics, the Viasat Group will broadcast on its free and pay platforms.Long standing public broadcast partners continue to show support including in Belgium VRT and RTBF, BBC in the UK, NOS in Netherlands, Rai in Italy and SRG in Switzerland. Further European broadcasters include RTV Slovenia, Sport 1 Hungary, Czech TV in the Czech Republic, Polsat in Poland and Slovak TV in Slovakia.Elsewhere the event will be taken by Universal Sports in the US, NHK in Japan, CCTV in China, Eurosport Asia Pacific (Pan Asia), Supersport in Africa and Globosat in Brazil. In addition to Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, French language channel RDS will broadcast for the first time. Contracts for worldwide news access have also been closed (SNTV and Perform).A combination of live and highlights will also be available on the UCI’s Official You Tube channel, depending on each territory’s broadcast commitment.‘A high appeal television product’In addition to media rights distribution, Infront is also handling the media production of the event, ‘guaranteeing a high-level HDTV signal to broadcasters worldwide.’ More than 150 staff will ‘guarantee smooth operations with over 30 cameras covering the cycling action from the air and on the road.’Support is also provided for the broadcaster’s unilateral production along with transmission and commentary facilities. This year, more than 300 accreditations for broadcast teams have been registered, which is also a first in the history of the event. In welcoming the continued collaboration with Infront, current UCI President Pat McQuaid underlined the advantage of working with one entity for media rights distribution, production and related services: “Thanks to Infront’s experience in global sports rights distribution and its extensive network, the UCI Road World Championships will be accessible to more fans in both new and established territories,” he said.“This is leading the way for other cycling disciplines as well as demonstrating the sustained and ever growing global interest in the sport.”Stephan Herth, Infront’s Executive Director Summer Sports, added “The UCI Road World Championships has never been more accessible to fans than it is today. Broadcasters are acknowledging the heritage and future potential of the sport along with the global fan community now benefitting from coverage worldwide. Depending on each market’s media landscape and cycling tradition and by working on a territory by territory approach, UCI and Infront have very closely worked together to select the best possible broadcast outlet for the event in each region.”www.uci.chwww.infrontsports.com Relatedlast_img read more

New 100 Gb/s Driver is 1st to Combine Two Channels with Bias-Tees and State of the Art Channel-to-Channel Isolation

first_imgTriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has introduced the industry’s first dual-channel, surface-mount optical modulator driver that reduces bills of materials and shrinks PCB areas dedicated to optical driver functions. The new TGA4947-SL is released in conjunction with the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. TriQuint’s TGA4947-SL is designed for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s light wave networks using DQPSK and DP-QPSK modulations, respectively. It combines two driver amplifier channels and bias-tees in a compact surface-mount (SMT) package that maintains high channel-to-channel isolation of 30dB from DC to 40 GHz. The excellent isolation provided by TriQuint’s solution is essential to reduce bit error rate impact to maintain channel performance. TriQuint’s new modulator driver offers the lowest power dissipation available, making it a ‘green’ solution that dissipates half the power of competing products (just 1.2W per channel at 6Vpp output.) The TGA4947-SL also enables a more compact optical transmitter design, a key requirement of 100 Gb/s Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) MSA standards. It enables economical surface mount assembly processes and eliminates the need for costly connectorized driver “Bricks” while enabling SMT multiplexer (MUX) modules. The new TGA4947-SL modulator driver is compatible with TriQuint’s Smart Evaluation Board (Smart EVB™) solution for simplified RF connectivity. Smart EVB’s reduce by an order of magnitude the time required to set up and operate these devices in standard RF test and optical test stations. The new TriQuint TGA4947-SL is designed to drive Mach-Zehnder modulators in optical transceivers and transponders serving metro and long-haul networks. Carriers are rapidly increasing the data rates of these networks to accommodate exponential traffic growth driven by the demand for broadband connectivity.  By combining two channels along with accompanying bias-tees in a single surface-mount package, the TGA4947-SL addresses the need to reduce network component costs through lower part counts and maintaining superior electrical characteristics. Samples and evaluation boards are available for the TGA4947-SL. Contact TriQuint for product details.last_img read more

Has Rookie QB DeShone Kizer Earned the Right to Start the Preseason Opener for the Browns?

first_img Related TopicsBrownsCody KesslerDeShone Kizer Since 1999 it seems like a rite of passage during training camp for the Browns to be searching for a starting quarterback. This year is no different, with the competition between three very different players – Cody Kessler, Brock Osweiler, and rookie draft pick DeShone Kizer. Many assume that due to his experience from a year ago as a rookie that Kessler would be the choice to get the first crack at being a starter, but indications are coming in that seem to be minds are changing in Berea. That is as of now, rookie draft pick Kizer is quickly moving up the ladder, and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com writes that it looks like the former Notre Dame QB could be the man come the preseason opener in a week.DeShone Kizer has won the first week of training camp, and has moved closer to being named the starter for the preseason opener. On Thursday, he dazzled the training camp crowd with a 28-yard third-down pass to James Wright down the left sideline in his two-minute drill, and took another big step toward getting the nod next Thursday against the Saints. The perfectly placed ball, with Najee Murray in tight coverage, moved the offense to the 15, and set up a would-be field goal. Both Kessler and Osweiler were not quite as impressive, as they both threw interceptions in the two-minute drill on Thursday, something that could not sit well with coach Hue Jackson, who says that Kizer has been playing well in his short time in camp.“Those are the plays that quarterbacks have to make, and he made it,” Jackson said of Kizer. How important would it be for the Browns to finally have their man at quarterback? It’s really something they have been looking for since their return to the NFL, and having someone like Kizer entrenched as the starter would be a huge step in the right direction. Chelsea’s Granovskaia’s meeting with Conte agent revealed, two ‘walls’ in Sarri’s…

first_imgAntonio Conte, despite all of the stories sending him far away from Stamford Bridge towards the end of the season, remains Chelsea’s manager for the time being. The amount of money Roman Abramovich would have to give him in his severance package remains the primary reason for this, but the Blues are working towards getting it all sorted so that Maurizio Sarri can take over as soon as possible. This is, in essence, what Il Mattino were reporting on Tuesday, revealing Marina Granovskaia held a meeting on Monday with Conte’s agents, with €10m in wages and a series of bonuses linked to next season’s performances being discussed. That’s why, according to the Italian newspaper, the private jet expected to take Sarri to London remains firmly on the airport strip for the time being.Embed from Getty ImagesDown Napoli’s end, Aurelio de Laurentiis remains adamant he wants money from Chelsea in order for them to appoint his former manager. These are the two ‘walls’ currently standing in Sarri’s way, and until they’re torn down, he will remain at home, getting paid by his ex-club on a contract technically keeping him there until 2020.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameDon’t Play This Game, it’s Addictive.Forge of Empires – Free Online GameUndoRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndoDash Living Hong KongExpat’s Favorite – Fully Serviced Studio from HK$10,000 / moDash Living Hong KongUndo聽多多 Hearmore.asia1969年前出生的香港居民現可免費試戴頂尖的歐洲助聽器聽多多 Hearmore.asiaUndoStanChart by CNBC CatalystDigitization in Banks Is No Longer About Efficiency, but Business Resilience.
