first_imgWHITTIER – Police are looking for an 83-year-old woman who has been missing since 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Blanche Tranberg suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and schizophrenia and recently underwent surgery to insert a pacemaker, said Jason Zuhlke, spokesman for the Whittier Police Department. Tranberg’s family reported her missing from the 12000block of Beverly Drive Thursday evening and said she was last seen wearing a green short-sleeve sweater, gray sweat pants and tan sandals. She is described as white, 5feet 3 inches tall, 130pounds with curly brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She wears an identification bracelet. No one was injured in the blaze, which took firefighters with five engines and two trucks about 20 minutes to put out, Hawkins said. Fire Department investigators were attempting to determine the cause of the blaze, and damages were being tallied, Hawkins said. Bus trip to Ford theater planned PICO RIVERA – The city’s Arts and Cultural Committee will host a bus trip next month to the Ford Amphitheater for the “Live on Central Avenue” jazz concert. The bus will leave at 5 p.m. Oct. 15 from the Pico Rivera Senior Center parking lot, 9200 Mines Ave. The trip is for adults 18 and older. The cost is $26 per person, which includes round-trip transportation and admission.
