No Joker Jared Leto will star in Blade Runner sequel

first_imgYou thought crazy method-acting Jared Leto’s antics were bad on Suicide Squad, just wait and find out what happens if he plays a replicant! We’ve been waiting 34 years for it, but Blade Runner 2 is finally happening, whether you like or not. Harrison Ford is returning in perhaps his biggest cult-favorite role as Deckard, a replicant bounty hunter. Replicants are synthetic beings that are basically indistinguishable from real humans, and they are illegal. They are self-aware, however, and faster and stronger than us… and the idea of Leto playing one could be scary indeed for the cast. Not that we can see Ford taking much of that crap.Alongside Ford and Leto there is a surprisingly great cast in place- with Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, and Lennie James all signed on. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) will be directing from a script by Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Green Lantern, American Gods), with original director Ridley Scott working as executive producer. As for what the plot entails, well, no one knows just yet. All we know is that it will be set long after the events of the original Blade Runner, which it would have to be since it’s been 34 years. There are so many places the story could go, and the topic of what humanity really is never gets old to ponder, so we can hope for the best. If Leto does turn out to be a replicant- and with his recent turn one would expect him to perform in some sort of villain role- it will be interesting to see how he plays it.The as-yet untitled Blade Runner sequel will hit theaters on October 6, 2017, with Warner Bros distributing the film domestically and Sony handling the international release. <>last_img
